Earliest Paperworks 1977-78
My earliest paperworks were in 1977-78 for my MFA exhibition at the University of Nebraska. I learned papermaking from Garner Tullis at a workshop at his studio, the institute of Experimental Printmaking in San Francisco in 1977. My masters of fine arts thesis show was a series of hand-formed and relief printed paper pieces that related to the ceiling, the floor and the corner of the room. The works are all about 72” in height to reference the relationship to the human form. All the works are hand-formed paper, printed with relief and constructed works that velcro to the wall.
